Mustang Capital Group is Cal Poly's premier student-run investment fund. MCG was founded to be an environment where students can make real investment decisions, and learn the mechanics of the markets by doing real work beyond theory. It is a community built entirely around hands-on learning, where members learn how to invest by actually going through the process together.

What We Do

Our analysts cover four core sectors: TMT, Consumer, Healthcare, and Industrials. Rather than casually picking stocks, our team models a professional buy-side process. This means our members learn how to conduct deep industry research, build their own financial models, and present complete pitches to our Investment Committee. Whether your goal is investment banking, asset management, sales & trading, or equity research, we focus on giving you the practical training you need to stand out in interviews and on the job.

Who We're Looking For

While our membership is selective, we intentionally do not require prior finance experience. We are not looking for people who already know everything on day one. We are looking for students who have intellectual curiosity, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn. Because this is our founding year, every new member gets to help shape our culture and build a track record that future Cal Poly classes will look up to.
